The clients have a close affiliation with Portugal and longed for a kitchen which embodied the workshop nature of this archetype. The feeling that you dine inside the kitchen, open shelving, kids can do homework and art projects at the table while the parents cook and surpervise simultaneously. In a culture of temporarity this core aspect of the home as architectural intervension, bricks and mortar, offers a grounding sense of permanence, a commitment to grow in and around the building.
